Hi, Iām Lucy
Owner and Operator of VMed Assist
During my professional journey, I have gained significant experience in medical and allied health reception and administration. Working closely with doctors, therapists, and sonographers, I have developed a deep understanding of the importance of efficient and compassionate patient care. Though I am not a medical professional myself, my role has given me the opportunity to contribute to the smooth running of healthcare facilities and assist in providing a positive experience for patients.
In my previous positions, I have been responsible for handling patient appointments, managing medical records, and coordinating various administrative tasks. This involved liaising with healthcare professionals and patients on a daily basis, ensuring that all communication was clear and effective. I have also become adept at using electronic medical record systems and managing the confidentiality of sensitive patient information.
Furthermore, my experience as a patient care assistant has allowed me to develop a strong sense of empathy and understanding when it comes to patient needs. I have had the privilege of supporting individuals with various medical conditions and disabilities, which has equipped me with valuable skills in delivering personalised care and attention to detail. My role required me to provide companionship, and assist with daily living activities, all while being mindful of each individual's unique and different abilities.
To further enhance my expertise in the healthcare industry, I have obtained a qualification in health services assistance. This program has provided me with comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, infection control practices, and patient safety protocols. Additionally, it has given me a solid foundation in understanding the healthcare system and the vital role that each staff member plays in providing quality care.
Aside from my professional experience, I have a lived family experience of neurodiversity. This has given me a unique perspective and I am well aware of the importance of creating a neuro-affirming environment that recognises and supports each individual's specific needs. While I may not possess medical expertise, I can assist in sourcing and providing neuro-affirming information and resources if required.
In conclusion, my experience in medical and allied health reception and administration, coupled with my qualification in health services assistance and personal understanding of neurodiversity, has equipped me with a strong foundation to contribute positively to healthcare settings.
